Spectre Alone - Demo 2011

So these cats hit me up and asked me to throw their Demo up here. And I will un-regrettably do so. Spectre Alone are a hardcore band from the Boston area sounding to me like a homage to Pg. 99, Orchid, and other golden era skramz band with a bit of a modern sound. Pretty rad stuff. Look out for these dudes!

Go like them on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SpectreAlone

Go stream their demo on bandcamp: http://spectrealone.bandcamp.com/

La Coka Nostra - A Brand You Can Trust

La Coka Nostra is a hardcore rap 'super group'.
"La Coka is an all-star cast of House of Pain alumni Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal along with Ill Bill (Non Phixion) and Slaine (Special Teamz). A Brand You Can Trust also contains Hip Hop elite features such as Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Immortal Technique, Bun B, Jacken (Psycho Realm) and Q-Unique (Arsonists/StillWell). The album also boasts production work from The Alchemist. "

Personally I think this is some of the sickest rap I've heard in a minute. I mean, with a line up like that can yo really go wrong? Get into this shit if you think Lil Wayne is a fucking faggot and you can't stand all this hip hop lite shit...

Acrid - Eighty Sixed

Acrid is a band from Canada-land... They were active in the late 90's grind/hardcore scene. In my mind the are contemporaries to Sea of Deprivation, Dystopia, Unruh, .Nema, and other dark, messy, grinding, hardcore... They are a definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something to itch that chaotic and brooding hardcore itch...

Staring Problem - You'll Always Be Sick [2008]

Staring Problem are a Hardcore Punk band from Jersey Shore, New Jersey. Don't let that scare you away though they are rad. These are just some old hardcore kids, who aren't kids anymore, playing hardcore punk. One of the guitarists was in Tear it Up, so you know they are legit. This is some pretty cool modern hxc punk taking definite cues from thrash punk and a lot of that late 90's early 00's metalized punk sound and mixing it with some of that neo-power violence worship shit. Circle pit!

Crippling Fear - Demo 2010

This band hit me up like 2 months ago through e-mail and asked me to post their demo. So here it is. These young gun are playing some raw grinding hardcore. Shit has hints of newer noisier dissonant chugging hardcore countered by raw as fuck punk grind. Kind of has a Spoonful of Vicodin vibe if they were a little bit into As the Sun Sets as well as Toxic Narcotic for some reason... Yea I dig it.

My Lai - Learn... Forget... Relearn + Pony Soldier EP

Ah, one month later and I post again... It's a miracle! I'll try to keep the posting less sporadic...

Here today, we have a great specimen... My Lai, are a Chicago band named after a civilian massacre committed by the US Army during the Vietnam War. (RIP) They were active from 96-99, and played frantic, spastic, emotional hardcore; sometimes known as emo-violence. These dudes didn't release much as far as I know, (I think they released one picture disc other than the LP&EP I'm posting here) and they seem to be relatively unknown, compared to some of their contemporaries (Usurp Synapse, Orchid, As The Sun Sets)... Anyways, to me they sound like a good mix of HeWhoCorrupts or KungFuRick (the HWC incarnation of the late 90's), Orchid, and early Daughters... Lots of brutalisms countered by bits of calm, then off to more pummeling mathy riffage and some blasterbation...

I think you guys will really like this stuff...

Download here

Also, for those of you asking me to update more often; don't worry. I just got a new stylus for my record player and over the last couple months I've been buying discs like crazy... I'll definitely be uploading a bunch in the coming days and weeks... Look forward to some stuff from: Creation is Crucifixion, Bastardass/Say Why, Usurp Synapse/Index for Potential Suicide, Combatwoundedveteran/Orchid, a 4way split with Brodys Militia and others...

Also, check out this new blog, that focuses on Australian extreme music: deathbysodomy.blogspot.com

State - German/Verboten 7" Ep

State is a gritty 80's style hardcore punk band from Detroit Michigan. Apparently all these dudes have been into hardcore since the 80's so it's not really lame for them to be playing throwback style hardcore in the late 00's. You can expect everything you would expect from an 80's American hardcore band. Lots of grit, mid to fast paced drums, perfectly placed group vocals, just enough melody, and modest slop filled guitar soloing. The rad thing about this 7" is that half the songs are in German, although they are an American band. For fans of MDC, Circle Jerks, DOA, and Negative FX. Dig it!

Trendy Bastard/Krupskaya split 7"

This is a trans-Atlantic split between Trendy Bastard and Krupskaya. Each band provides 6 songs and all under 12 minutes... The 7" was put out by a bunch of different labels. (sassbologna, give praise, scene cred, + more) Both bands are pretty chaotic, and that's how I like it. Get this while you still can.

Krupsakaya is a chaotic/grind band from the UK. They rage really fucking hard. Total blur of drums, pretty chaotic, but not pure noise. Definitely some modern sounding grind here, but not 'scene' shit at all. Sounds like a mix between As the Sun Sets, Yacopse, Call Me Betty, and Discordance Axis with some vocals that at times remind me of black metal or skramz. Lots of start stop blasting and high end shit countered by tasteful chugging.

Trendy Bastard were a hardcore band from Iowa. (2003-2008) They have hints of thrash, punk, and grind popping up every where. Sometimes they sound a little bit tech-metal, but with that expected hardcore-sloppiness that we all know and love. These guys blast blast blast and then get groovey with crazy little riffs, jumping from old school thrash riffs to noisecore, driven by pumelling drums all the while the vocalist screams his guts out... I guess these guys could be compared to Tyranny of Shaw, Graf Orlock, Phoenix Bodies and other midwest hardcore. Don't blink, you might miss something.

Trendy Bastard:
1.Urethras Castle
2.Dan Woodman
3.Crocodile Mustache
4.Twig Destroyer
5.Bark Funeral
6.666 Can eat my shit shit shit

Krupskaya:
1.And bless those who carry trepidation for the faceless enemy
2.Rain Fell in the Morning Air
3.Onwards the righteous into the mire
4.Failed by the angel of mons
5.Only rats came for the bodies
6.Trespass against me for I am war and rebirth

Dial S/T

Hey everyone, whats up?

Dial is a radical band from New Zealand.Apparently Robotic Empire dudes thought their S/t demo was so insane they decided to put it out as a Cd Ep and let me tell you it's some sick shit. These guys and girl provide some sludgey, noisey, mathy, ragey?, pessimistic savagery that makes you wanna curl up and die (oh haha) then rise up again as a zombie and start some shit. Yea, I could compare these folks to a lot of bands but it wouldn't do them much justice. I guess you could say they take everything good about sludge and weird tech/noise metal/core and smash it together to create something much more soul crushingly evil and dissonant...

The tracks are in FLAC btw.

Spoonful of Vicodin - Bursts of Rage at the Speed of Hate

We all know and love Spoonful of Vicodin. This is their 'full length' (I use that term lightly, there's not a lot of length to this release haha). It's got a couple of familiar tracks, and couple less familiar ones. Anyways, it's good grind for you metal punx. Just guitar and drums, but this shit is fresh. Songs about sketchy Pot Heads and sketchy fucks... Songs about taking a dump on company time. What more could you ask for?

Go buy a t-shirt from them or get one from Bones Brigade Records... Shits pretty cheap. Support grind!

Obliteration - This is Tomorrow

Obliteration is a pretty fucking sick Hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts in 2008 (I think, regardless they are pretty new). They have members of Knife Fight and Mind Eraser, arguably, two pretty gnarly bands. Their sound is something like a mix between Discharge style d-beat worshipping Motorhead and Doom somewhere in the Midwest hardcore scene circa 1985. Needless to say, it's fucking good shit. Would fit well into a collection of somebody who is a fan of Havoc Records. Very addicting.

Iron Lung & Shank split

Ah, power violence. Yea.

Iron Lung is this fucked up 2-man noise rock/power violence mash up that does just fucking killer. They have their own sound and it's fucking incredible. They effectively take Power Violence to a much scarier level. So spastic, yet so fluid... From what I can gather their side of the split is a concept album, so to speak, about some shit going down in a prison.

The Shank side is pretty killer as well. They play power violence that is truly violent. This stuff is really brutal. Like if Phobia played PV. You get the picture, it's sick, brutal, and fast.

PS
The songs are all in FLAC format if the download seems bigger than it should. I dunno why I converted them in FLAC, but yea... I can gaurantee you it sounds great! haha

Graf Orlock

You guys all know Gorlock by now. If you don't, you probably aren't up on modern hardcore. I don't really feel like going into an explanation. All I have to say is hardcore + grindcore + movie samples + screaming. I'm gonna hook you guys up with the new one, which is not nearly as brutal as their old stuff, but its like a nice snap shot of everything going on in the post/hardcore scene right now; and I'm gonna give you a split and an early ep. Fun!

Day of Less - Porcaria

So, this band has a pretty dumb name in my opinion. BUT, don't let that fool you. These guys are sick. Maybe some of you guys have heard of this band called GAZA, who fucking rip dicks off and shove em down peoples throats... Well, if you haven't heard GAZA, this is where it all began. Most of the members of GAZA used to be in Day of Less, and most of DoL's albums sucked ass... BUT, this one is great. This is described by the GAZA dudes as "a gnarly collection of grungy post-hardcore songs". And I couldn't have put it any better myself. This is what post-hardcore SHOULD sound like. You can hear direct similarities to GAZA on this album, but you can also hear stuff reminiscent of less underground stuff like Tool and Converge with hints of sludge and stoner rock poking up here and there. It's spastic like GAZA, but it also is counterpointed by a strong melodic streak. You'll understand.

I highly suggest this album for anyone who's bored with the state of hardcore.

Cry Now, Cry Late vol 3 & 4

'Cry Now, Cry Later' was a series of comps that came out in the mid 90's as the hardcore scene was developing into the direction that has taken now. This has power violence, grind, sludge, and even a little screamo on it. This compilation showcases bands like ANb, Crom, the Locust, MITB, Charles Bronson, Noothgrush, and tons more before they were scene-stars like they are now. You should really check this out, it's real nice.

Hewhocorrupts and friends

I'm gonna post a shit load of stuff today. Like too much.

Anyways, I'm sure a handful of you know of Hewhocorrupts already, but for those of you that don't... Well fuck you! Nah just kidding, HWC are a bunch of goofy bastards from Chicago who play technical hardcore, and what I mean by that is they ARE a hardcore band, but they go further than just playing 4 chords really fast and screaming. They have mathy moments, they have death metal moments, and they have moments that are just intimidating, in a fun way. Just get into this stuff. I'm posting 2 splits and an EP. It's their best EP and the 2 splits ain't shabby either.

Drugs of Faith - S/t

Drugs of Faith is a bad ass grind n' roll band. They take all the best things about grind, sludgey weirdness, and punk rock and throw it in a blender and add lots of hardcore attitude and voila, Drugs of Faith. They share members with Agoraphobic Nosebleed (you'll notice with the vocals) and are from Virginia.

Also, I guess they have a new Mini-CD out, so go scope that.

Curtainrail - To Be With You

CURTAINRAIL are a power violence band from TOKYO JAPAN. I first heard these guys on some comp called Japan in Decline. It's a good one, get that. Anyways, yea Curtainrail play fastcore in the Japanese style. I mean this stuff isn't mind blowing or anything, but it's really good fastcore for you skulls! Who can't use more?

Agoraphobic Nosebleed/The Endless Blockade split

Agoraphobic Nosebleed. We all know and love them. And if you don't know or love them... well, get on it! I think this stuff is the first recordings they did with their new vocalist Kat. (although it was released after Agorapocalypse...) Anyways, it's ANb, you know what they bring to the table. Thrashing death grind with frantic drum machine blasts and insanity! It's great. The noise track is the illest.

Endless Blockade... This is sick Power Violence in the vein of MITB and Iron Lung! It's modern P.V. DONE RIGHT. It's not just retro 90's wanna be shit... They hold their own!

Get into this stuff... This is from a 7" and when I downloaded it there were just two tracks. So I separated all the tracks. I might have messed up a little on the E.B. side because there are like no pauses between their songs, but it should be straight.
enjoy
