Spectre Alone - Demo 2011

So these cats hit me up and asked me to throw their Demo up here. And I will un-regrettably do so. Spectre Alone are a hardcore band from the Boston area sounding to me like a homage to Pg. 99, Orchid, and other golden era skramz band with a bit of a modern sound. Pretty rad stuff. Look out for these dudes!

Go like them on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SpectreAlone

Go stream their demo on bandcamp: http://spectrealone.bandcamp.com/

Acrid - Eighty Sixed

Acrid is a band from Canada-land... They were active in the late 90's grind/hardcore scene. In my mind the are contemporaries to Sea of Deprivation, Dystopia, Unruh, .Nema, and other dark, messy, grinding, hardcore... They are a definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something to itch that chaotic and brooding hardcore itch...

State - German/Verboten 7" Ep

State is a gritty 80's style hardcore punk band from Detroit Michigan. Apparently all these dudes have been into hardcore since the 80's so it's not really lame for them to be playing throwback style hardcore in the late 00's. You can expect everything you would expect from an 80's American hardcore band. Lots of grit, mid to fast paced drums, perfectly placed group vocals, just enough melody, and modest slop filled guitar soloing. The rad thing about this 7" is that half the songs are in German, although they are an American band. For fans of MDC, Circle Jerks, DOA, and Negative FX. Dig it!

Obliteration - This is Tomorrow

Obliteration is a pretty fucking sick Hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts in 2008 (I think, regardless they are pretty new). They have members of Knife Fight and Mind Eraser, arguably, two pretty gnarly bands. Their sound is something like a mix between Discharge style d-beat worshipping Motorhead and Doom somewhere in the Midwest hardcore scene circa 1985. Needless to say, it's fucking good shit. Would fit well into a collection of somebody who is a fan of Havoc Records. Very addicting.

PS: Thanks Sam, you always hook it up with solid hardcore!!!

Cry Now, Cry Late vol 3 & 4

'Cry Now, Cry Later' was a series of comps that came out in the mid 90's as the hardcore scene was developing into the direction that has taken now. This has power violence, grind, sludge, and even a little screamo on it. This compilation showcases bands like ANb, Crom, the Locust, MITB, Charles Bronson, Noothgrush, and tons more before they were scene-stars like they are now. You should really check this out, it's real nice.

Hewhocorrupts and friends

I'm gonna post a shit load of stuff today. Like too much.

Anyways, I'm sure a handful of you know of Hewhocorrupts already, but for those of you that don't... Well fuck you! Nah just kidding, HWC are a bunch of goofy bastards from Chicago who play technical hardcore, and what I mean by that is they ARE a hardcore band, but they go further than just playing 4 chords really fast and screaming. They have mathy moments, they have death metal moments, and they have moments that are just intimidating, in a fun way. Just get into this stuff. I'm posting 2 splits and an EP. It's their best EP and the 2 splits ain't shabby either.

Floor - Demos, 7's, and splits

Floor is my favorite sludge/stoner rock band. They could be described as Godflesh minus the industrial sounds... They are the precursor to Torche, and I think they are better. These guys are definitely way underrated. This stuff all predates their self titled that I posted a couple months back. You can tell as these tracks are a bit more murky and a bit more brooding. Anyways, the tracks on this comp of collected tracks are from vinyl, and you can tell. The tracks crackle and pop like an old record, but it's still good shit. So yea, here it is in all it's sludgey glory.

OH wait, before I post the link... Robotic Empire is putting out a Floor box set with cd's, lp's, 7's, and a bunch of other junk for 250$ pre-ordered. I can't afford that, but maybe some of you guys can. Go check it out.

Bathtub Shitter - Dancehall Grind

So yea, Bathtub Shitter is pretty rad band. It's hard to find their music online, even through soulseek and shit like that. My homeboy Blud found it though, so get on this shit while you can because I'll probs end up having to take it down. Anyways, Bathtub Shitter is insane death/grind from Osaka, Japan. They have some really high pitched vocals at times, countered by the death growl/gurgle. At first I thougt they were lame, but damn, after a couple listens they are one of the coolest death/grind bands I've heard in a minute. Check it out:

PS- One of the songs is corrupted so just ignore that. You might have to extract the files without the track "Everybody has the wet"

Masterpeace - Chase the ideal Myself

Masterpeace is a hardcore punk band from Osaka, Japan. (Don't call Japanese hardcore Japcore, you faggots) Anyways, they are rage as fuck and have some pretty melodic leads. Expect high octane energy and frantic screaming. A++ material

Product of Wast 7" EP

Product of Waste are a sick hardcore punk band from Providence! Reppin that east coast quickness and the east coast sickness, these guys are fast, pissed, and probably drunk as fuck! Despite being pissed as hell these guys play really fun hardcore music. They got songs about drinking, they got songs about skating, they got songs about drinking and skating, and shitting your pants and being paranoid about aids... It's good straight forward hardcore with some metal tinges. More hardcore though. Get into it!

Spoonful of Vicodin

I like this band a lot. I got some tape of theirs a long ass time ago and it's awesome. I wanted to listen to it but realized I didn't have a fucking tape player! First I just listened to their tracks from "This Comp Kills Fascists" but that became unsatisfying... So the Soulseek search began... This is the songs I came up with. Some from their Demo, and some from something titled "Spoonful of Destrux". Demo sounds good, Destrux sounds like fucking shit quality wise. Anyways check em out. Good powerviolence grind stuff.

Doomtree - Falsehopes

FIRST HIP HOP POST YAH

Doomtree is a really sweet Hip Hop collective type thing. They take a bunch of artists from the Minneapolis area and they get together and make some sick alternative hip hop/rap. The thing that sets them apart is they got like a Punk attitude so it makes me even more hella down with them. YEA. I really like the songs by Dessa, she's seriously like the best female emcee on the planet (Not to mention, she's a pretty attractive lady haha). If anyone likes this stuff I can upload the Dessa's False Hopes EP along with Cecil Otter's False Hopes EP. Both are members of Doomtree collective and for some reason there is like 5 albums called False Hopes.. Actually, I just looked on the Doomtree website and there are 14, count em, 14 False Hopes albums lmfao.

From Last Fm:
"Members of Doomtree bring various bases of knowledge and musical backgrounds together to create honest and original music. Their main influence is punk and their lyrics are frequently introspective and self-degrading. They often do shows with fellow Minnesota hip-hop label Rhymesayers Entertainment. Emcees perform solo or with one another, each contributing a different approach to their music."

Tower of Rome / Gun Kata Split

First and foremost I must say these two bands are what makes (made? I think ToR broke up...) the Midwest fucking disturbingly awesome. This split is like the most intense 12 minutes of screeching noise as fuck grind punk... Dig it. OH yea, Hewhocorrupts Inc. is the best shit ever.

Gun kata(From their myspizz):
"In late 2003, four gentlemen met in the basement of John Mendola (of Hewhocorrupts) to form Gun Kata. Their music is, first and foremost, the product of Dean Costello. Dean’s contorted guitar riffs provide the blueprint for the delirium. Dean isn’t afraid to tell you he enjoys The Smiths and The Deftones, but you would never know it listening to him play, err…shred. Enter, the aforementioned, Mr. John Mendola who insists that drum triggers are lame and he would never use them, but likes the way they sound anyway. His pummeling rhythms are a thunderous counterpart to Dean’s menacingly disorienting guitar. Bassist, Eugene Marino (of Friel) has got the edge on most. His playing is a perfect compliment to the fracas; putting forth a low-end that Jimmy Bain would be proud of. Finally, Toney Vast-Binder (of 7000 Dying Rats) can scream, sputter and moan with the best of them. He can’t, however, make any promises that he won’t spill his margarita on your Ozzfest t-shirt. Gun Kata has recently recorded five songs for a new release available sometime, somewhere."

Tower of Rome (I'm not gonna use their myspace description because uh there isn't one soooo I'll just be genuine):
Tower of Rome are cool. They describe their sound as california 90's meets the midwest '06 taking influence from hardcore, grind, and power violence. They are maniacs. That's all I have to say.

1 Tower Of Rome Abbreviating Words Can Be Time Efficient For Example I'm Going To Die Tomorrow By "Leath Injectch"
2 Tower Of Rome Backwards Middle Fingers To Madison Dance Parties
3 Tower Of Rome Rewriting The Platline Of A B-Grade Slasher Film
4 Tower Of Rome I Want A Phone Company That Will Murder My Boss
5 Tower Of Rome Vulgar Display Of Tower
6 Tower Of Rome We Have Been Hired To Knock Your Teeth Crooked That Is Unless They Already Are Crooked Which In That Case We Will Knock Them Straight
7 Gun Kata Frank Talks About A Dead Man
8 Gun Kata Pricks
9 Gun Kata Johnny Mendola's A Big Deal These Days
10 Gun Kata The Jealous Cryptozoologist
11 Gun Kata Siafu
12 Gun Kata We Weren't Joking, He Really Is A Big Deal
13 Gun Kata Custom Van Fantasy Painting

(Gun Kata comes first in the files, but whatever)

No Commercial Value

No Commercial Value is the pre-cursor of Choking Victim and Leftover Crack. The quality of the release is kind of shitty. I think it came out in like 1993. You can definately hear the Crack Rock Steady sound developing. (In the song "The Choice is Yours" they even use some lyrics from the Choking V song "Crack Rock Steady".) Some chick does the vocals and Stza does backing vocals. Seriously, it's not that good but if you are a CRS7 enthusiast (like I am) then you should get it.

Ed Gein

Ed Gein is one of my all time favorite bands. They could be described as a noise-punk death/grind band. Just imagine if Napalm Death, Melt Banana, and Pig Destroyer had sexual relations and produced a freaky, three headed, anti-human, socially charged, punk rock doom baby.

Thats pretty much the best way I can describe these guys. It's really good stuff. If you are generally pissed at the state of the world, or more notably at the state of post 9/11 America then you'll love this shit. And if you want some new sick fucking grind core.

Here's their two full lengths. I prefer "Judas Goats and Dieseleaters", while almost everyone else I've talked to likes "It's a Shame...", probably because it has awesome Donnie Darko samples. They're both awesome. Get em.

Ed Gein - It's a Shame a Family Can Be Torn Apart by Something as Simple as a Pack of Wild Dogs [2003]

1. "You Suck at Life, and I'm Not Talking About the Board Game" - 2:38

6. "...And by the Best I Mean the Worst" - 0:58
7. "Beating a Dead Horse" - 2:39
8. "What is This Monstrosity?" - 11:49

(note: 10:10 into song #8 a cover of Nirvana's "Very Ape" comes in. It's rad)
